TOUR STOP FOUR: The City of Sisterly Love

Read More:

After an appearance on our beloved 10! Show and a sports-themed soirée at a joint called Swanky Bubbles — how could we not have fun in Philly?

Philly was indeed Phun. (And I mean it. Unlike my high school physics teacher, Mrs. Dixon, who had a sign posted in class that said “Physics is Phun.” Now, that’s a lie.) But our trip Philly was phun. And although many people have strong feelings about Philadelphia’s fan base, we thought the Phillie Phanatics and the Eagles Faithful were just phine. (OK, I’ll stop.)

First, we started off with an appearance on one of our favorite shows — The 10! Show. Yes, it’s on at 11am, but who am I to quibble with Lori and Bill, just about the most chipper and lovely people in the entire city. We did a fun little spot about making your tailgate a unisex success. (Don’t miss our referee piñata in the background … he has become the Official Mascot of the GoGameFace Tour. We don’t leave home without him.) While we were on the show, we met a fantastic local chef named Brian Duffy, who happened to be wearing a kilt and heading down to Dallas to participate in a cook-off and to watch his Eagles in a Big D showdown on Monday Night Football.

Next, we had our GameFace event at Swanky Bubbles in Old City Philly. Yes, the venue was on fire just the week prior, but our event was on fire that night, as we hosted our reading and book signing, complete with our signature tattoos and mani’s (even the fellas got in on the act). And we must mention our delish Effen Vodka GameFace Champagne Cocktails. Mmmmm. We even had a special cameo appearance by GameFace “Away Games” writer Laura Silvius, who took time out from regaling guests with her travel tales to take a photo with me and Chris.

The coolest part was that we met this saucy, sports-loving woman named Liza Goncalves, and her fantastically fun friends. Liza used to host her own show on BET and now she is launching a new line of apparel based on “A League of Their Own.” She showed us this adorable tee with puffy sleeves, a really cool line-drawing of the Madonna character and the phrase, “There’s no crying in baseball.” We heart her designs. They are adorable and feminine and sporty at the same time. (Just like Liza!) We’re going to cover her entire collection in the Fashion Plates feature next week, so stay tuned for more photos of her Vintage Blue line of tees, dresses and more. In the meantime, if you’re in Philly this Friday, Septmber 19, she’s having a launch party at McFadden’s Ballpark, so check it out …

Our phun in Philly was short-lived. Tomorrow, we head west for the rest of our book tour. We are about to leave the comfort of GameFace headquarters … no more sleeping in our own beds … no more easy access to food, shelter and wireless. GameFace Mobile Unit One is headed out on the open road. Next stop: Pittsburgh.
